2021.02.28 16:53 Slaloming_dos Cheating SO MUCH WORSE
Why is the cheating so much worse than it was before the last big update? All this BS from Activision about cracking down and EVERY GOD DAMN GAME has cheaters in it now.
I can’t get a single game of MP in without a guy on the other team having triple the kills of the best player on my team, with 1/3rd of the deaths. I’m seeing crap like 40 and 6 on a regular basis and I want to chuck my Xbox out the window.

Hi everyone! I recently came out as bisexual a few months ago, and with that, I wanted to find a way to show my pride but subtlety since I'm not out to everyone I know yet. I'm an artist and some of my favorite things to paint are skies so I thought painting skies to look like the different pride flags would be a great project!

2021.02.28 16:53 Harajuku-Redditor Resetting island!! Need someone to hold stuff!
Hi! My brother just got the game, and I told him that I’d reset so we could start together. I don’t mind doing it, but I have been playing since release so I’d like to save at least a few items. So if anyone is free to hold some stuff for a while that’d be great! I don’t know how long it would take, so if you don’t mind having a bunch of stuff littered over your island for a couple hours, let me know haha!

2021.02.28 16:53 estoops Ed2go Copiah-Lincoln Community College
I’ve recently been thinking about starting a career in radiation therapy. I’ve mostly worked in non-profit and education but the pay isn’t great and I would like to have a more defined career and job title and have options all over the country, and would also like a job where when I leave I’m done for the day and don’t feel intense pressure etc while also being paid decently (I know I won’t get rich just want to be comfortable) so I started looking at medical professions and radiation therapy stuck out to me the most. Of course I don’t know the ins and outs of the job yet but I’m a very detailed, meticulous and numbers oriented person but I also like helping people and don’t want to sit in front of a computer all day. I’ve also always thought of myself as a very empathetic person and good listener as I am pretty laid back and quiet myself but tend to be someone who people come to with their problems and for advice.
I have a previous bachelors degree but it’s in an unrelated non-science field so I’ve been looking online at programs and have found a few where the only prerequisite I am missing is Anatomy and Physiology (and a couple also require medical terminology). Obviously in the middle of a semester is not the ideal time to apply so I was prepared to perhaps have to wait a year to apply once I took these classes but I found an Anatomy and Physiology offered by ed2go through Copiah-Lincoln Community College that is very affordable but it seems too good to be true. I plan on calling both Copiah and the colleges I’m interested in tomorrow to see if it would meet their requirement but I’m just curious if anyone here has every used them and how it was and if they had any issues transferring or if they have better ideas that I might try, strong preference to online of course.
Here is the course link btw: https://www.ed2go.com/colin/online-courses/human-anato

I'm just browsing classes for next semester, and I honestly just find the course descriptions so vague. Fitness/conditioning Training? Online? What even is that? Like working out at home to exercise videos? XD I mean, I'm not saying NO, but I'm just confused.

2021.02.28 16:53 Friendly_Doctor_EOC The End of the Cycle
Pic. 1: Galaxy - Post Scourge, 3780, Political Map
Although the nations and their borders, as well as the Index icons in Pic. 3, are original works of mine (using Paint.net), the background of both images is credited to NASA and the real Whirlpool Galaxy, also known as M51 (some may recognize it, as it was used (inverted) in the Homeworld Series of games). Link to the source of the galaxy's still, by HubbleSite: https://hubblesite.org/image/3913/printshop
This project, is a long standing hobby of mine and friends. We have dubbed it: The End of the Cycle
The End of the Cycle is a sci-fi fantasy setting in which both the actions of individuals and nations are joined to collaborate in the construction of a realistic fictional universe. Within lay the boundless interactions between peoples, nations, characters, ships of war and many more, following 4 main plotlines of separate characters or group of characters and their stories.
(Note: the use of realistic here is to indicate that the setting seeks to develop in a manner that is deemed rational and concise within the confines of the setting. We attempt, in as many subjects as possible, to adhere to a sense of 'oh, that makes sense', so that the contexts inserted may be recognized and entertaining to the general reader. We do not, however, claim that it is a work that abides by realism, as in, a fact or slice of actual reality. Do correct me if I am wrong in the use of these terms, btw, I wish to be correct on this, if possible.)
All races must coexist, either in a permanent or temporary manner. Although some seek dominion of the galaxy, others seek cooperation. It is this stalemate that synthetically manufactured the status quo in the galaxy. The embodiment of this is displayed through a joint galactic effort, known as the Galactic Council. Here, wars are prevented and escalated. Peoples are freed and bargained. The unending chaotic cogs of political inertia, that so ironically represents the galaxy they reside in.
The Scourge, as it would later be known, is the conflict that derived from the three great powers in the galaxy, at the time, to make or break the hegemony of the new leading super power, The Athalmar Empire, a nation ruled by a race of Meritocratic, Erudite and Cold Pragmatists. Its contenders are the northern Allied nations of the Haldran Hierarchy and the High Kingdom of Eldarus. The Haldran following tenets of Unity, Stability and a pursuit for a Utopian lifestyle for its people, and the Eldurasi bringing the Ancient, Wise, Compassionate and Spiritual hand to all races of the Galaxy, guiding them as stewards and last of the ancient races.
Victory was achieve by the Athalmar Empire, who, in their prideful temper, layed waste to the Haldran worlds and vassalized the Eldurasi, robbing centuries of galactic stability, in brutal fashion. Terror and Disbelief arose, in equal measure, at the sight of the Athalmar's crimes, which beckoned across the galaxy in a powerful message against defiance. The power vacuum that proceeded The Scourge would see nations rise and fall, as well as quake the foundations of the Empire itself, proving that their ambitions may be the greatest challenge in their existence, as of yet. The Athalmar are the improbability that came to rule reality, through blood, callous merit and ruthless ambition. The Eldurasi, although subjugated, still reside as the last of the Ancients. Their claim to stewardship of the Galaxy still resides within the hearts of its people, with some expressing more than others. The Haldran, beaten and maimed, are the very essence of a fiery heart. Their utopic ideals now replaced with the revanchism necessary to invoke their vengeance upon their enemies. A defeat that would serve to shape their society anew and once again claim their dominion among the stars.
The image represents the political layout of the galaxy, as described after the Scourge war. It is the primary point of reference in our timeline for new additions to the story to come about more independently from relative events. As in, we still develop the past, but the year 3780 is considered the most relevant point for progression, with 3781 being the date at which the narrative (i.e. book/stories that I intend to write) takes place.
It is quite a development of ours, I like to think, as we intend on exploring enough facets of the universe that may intrigue the minds of those that derive from politics and higher intrigue, as well as those who can admire and entertain themselves at the sight of individual bravery, glory or achievement. The map itself is built with layers, so that, in case there's a need for change or a new idea is added into the mix, we may change it as needed, without interfering with the rest of the galaxy. As showcased in the following image, we can see the progression from Pre war (image below) to Post war maps (image at the beginning of post):
Pic. 2: Galaxy - Pre Scourge, 3766, Political Map
Slowly, but surely, as enough free time comes upon us, we explore the Galaxy in a much more zoomed in fashion, capturing the experiences of adventures from the smaller constituents of the setting. These can range from grand and established empires penetrating wild space, gargantuan tribe confederations that seek to safeguard their people's way of life, to the adventuring groups of mercenaries, warlords, pirates, scientists, hordes and space faring crusaders:
Pic. 3: Great Wastelands - Post Scourge, 3780, Political Map (WIP)
As much as the setting is built around certain needs of the narrative (in which we try to accommodate tropes, plots and character archs that we deem, using a technical term, cool), we also have grounding rules within the universe. One of such can be seen in the following map, where by designating certain areas of the galaxy as difficult to traverse (marked in orange hue. Little to singular routes of navigation) or impossible to traverse (marked in red. Too anomalous to chart a route), we created this sort of natural galactic terrain system, that so nicely sets out borders, peoples, cultures and interests (such as trade routes), like in the real world:
Pic. 4: Galaxy Hyperlane Density Map, with Pre Scourge borders as watermarks, for reference, and highlighted major trade routes
We ask for feedback through and through, but this next bit is where I'd emphasise my request for your opinions/ideas. In Pic. 4, you can see that, in the North Western region of the Galaxy, just before the outer galactic arm, there is a massive region of space that is designated as difficult to traverse. The lore behind this, is quite simple, but to better illustrate I shall present yet another map:
Pic. 5: Galaxy - Solicistania's Reckoning, 3567, Political Map
In the same region, in the year 3567 known as Solicistania, a Spartacus-like figure, known later as Khan Beravar, the Cunning, surges in belligerent revolt against the tyranny, hypocrisy, greed and inefficiency of all four great nations (respectively, Xanar Empire, Garinsian League, Velutan Union and Celestial Hegemony). Around 30 years later, after a grand coalition of nations was formed against him (lead by the Eldurasi), his progress was halted permanently, when he was defeated, and later killed. Before his death, it was his decree that, to protect his people against the imperialist outsiders, that all manner of infrastructure related to maintaining hyperlanes and communications within the region of Solicistania, and partially beyond, was to be purposely mismanaged, creating anomalies and disruptions that would hinder space faring traffic, seemingly permanently. This was also a ploy by the Khan, who did such dismantling with cunning precision, giving only to his few remaining loyalists a detailed map on how to traverse the now known Great Wastelands, making the rest a living hell for any who lived outside, and a safe haven for pirates, warlords and others, who would raid outwards and rule tyrannically inwardly. Much then happens in terms of politics and cultural shifts, eventually leading to the events of the Scourge, and the Athalmar (which you can see are but a small nation to the far east, to the right of the Dismos Imperium).
This brings me to my outcry for feedback. In Pic. 3, you'll notice that many custom made icons are stored in the Index on the bottom right. These are meant to fill the map of the wastelands, so to organize factions and conflicts. However, I have refrained from placing them, due to missing an important aspect of the wasteland that I simply do not know how to tackle: how to visually represent that the region is only really traversable by its inhabitants and incredibly experienced (and well equipped) adventurers. To outsiders, this is a cartographers nightmare, riddled with hostiles targets and savagery. Yet still there must be ways of knowing where to traverse and where the best planets and routes lay. Taking into consideration that my previous solution to this problem is displayed in Pic. 4, how would you go about such an ordeal... in space? The scale is fine with me, gargantuan or not.
Notes due of Curiosity
> This setting was created with basic foundations following the Star Wars, EVE Online and Homeworld universes, as well as take inspiration from real history of the 18th, 19th and 20th century. > This idea sparked from a game of Stellaris, where the arguments became too heated and characters and nation's backstory was added for extra flavour and immersion. The save file of this game is preserved to this day, and is affectionally named:

> Since it is depicted in such a tiny manner on the map, you may have missed the greatest faction name of all time: The Exemplars of Dawn. It's up there in my favourites list. Right next to The Brewing Imperium. > These are some maps that we have of the setting. The galaxy background stays the same, but as centuries pass, we have new stories to tell, and maps to show. Too many <.< > Much of my own additions to the setting were done under the influence of copious amounts of Endless Space 2 music. Blessed be its OST (Credit to G4F Record and, more specifically, FlybyNo, who composed the original soundtrack). Tea may have also been included during this process > This universe is documented and organized in the following Wiki Fandom, for those who's curiosity beckons: https://the-end-of-the-cycle.fandom.com/wiki/The_End_of_the_Cycle_Wiki

Has anyone else noticed the massive spike in bitcoin volume Friday afternoon? Normal volume of $50-60 billion and then Bam! $4 trillion, then back to business as normal and not a peep of it on the internet. I consider that news worthy. There was actually 1 post on reddit mentioning it, but the post was removed by moderators.

2021.02.28 16:53 almayeg My 9 month old kitten, Boo, has FIP and needs to be euthanized. I am devastated.
Less than a month ago, he went from being a playful, goofy, energetic cat to hiding under a chair and just seeming lethargic. Two weeks ago I took him to the vet and they diagnosed a tapeworm and treated him. 48 hours after that he started getting diarrhea and still seemed low energy and unlike himself. Friday I took him in for bloodwork, and yesterday the vet called to discuss his alarming results. His liver is barely functioning, his red blood cell counts are low, his white are high, and he has protein in his urine. He is showing some neurological symptoms. She explained that this is FIP, essentially 100% fatal, and recommended taking a day to read and process but to consider euthanasia.
In the past 24 hours I have snuggled, loved on him, tried to entice him to eat anything delicious, and read a lot about this awful disease. I looked at the FIP Facebook group and have read about the experiential treatments, but it just doesn’t seem reasonable to try if he’s already this far gone.
I am trying to prepare myself for his being euthanized tomorrow or Tuesday. I am so so so sad for the little guy and for myself. His life has been too short, and I love him so much.
I have a 5 year old cat who took a while to adjust, then became a playmate, and has now been hissing and growling at him for the last few weeks. Now I wonder if she could sense that he was sick. She definitely knows something is up. I am worried about how she will react when he is no longer here.
Any advice or wisdom appreciated.
